My next camera!
One thing you might notice of my blog, for now is: the abscence of pictures.
The reason is quite simple. After I went on that rant about how tiresome I found doing my website, I went onto photosig and looked around a bit.. Then went on my website.. then went into iPhoto and noticed something that sucked quite badly: I didn’;t take a picture I truly liked ever since I got rid of my film camera.
Now some people might think I’m crazy as 90% of people seem to embrace the revolution of digital photography. But me, I hate it.
First of all, any techno geek with no knowledge of light can take a crap picture and turn it into something a head turning pic. That’s not photography, that’s computer assisted imagery.
I hate it because pixels don’t have the “organic” personality that make all the difference between a velvial and a provia, iso 80 or 1000.. yet people seem to have forgotten already. They have forgotten the pleasure of just going out on a walk with your equipment, body, filter and all simply to look for something to shoot and try to render not only what you saw, but also what you felt.
BUT! There is hope for all of you’s, like me, who can’t actually deal too well with endless streams of script: I’M GETTING A NEW CAMERA!!
Yes, you read right. The Board of Directors (Nickie) has allowed a part of the budget to go in photography again!
IU was having a bit of a moan the other fday on the Photosig forum about how I hated digital really, a bit like I’m doing now but worse, and right there appeared my wife, like an angel, surrounded by a halo of light saying: Why don’t you buy a film camera? We can afford it with all the cuts you’ve made!
How great is that?!
I had sold my trusty F60 in order to save money because I was taking loads of pictures when I first met Nickie. I changed it by a digital and the savings were immediate! Our first trip: Quebec in Winter! The result? The stupid digital camera couldn’t deal with it. Imagine if I had my F60 and would have taken tons of beautiful pics I’d have to print.. But the time of darkness has come to an end!
Finished the time where I have to spend pointless hours trying to fix pictures on Photoshop, only to have to colors verified by someone. Finished the times when I would want to take a shot and think: this looks like shit. My polarising filter would make it so much better..and imagine in 28mm.
And NO! Photoshop’s Gaussian blur is NOT the same thing as a Diffuser Filter!
But thankfully, my wonderful wife knows that and is understanding, so “soon, you’ll hear me even happier than ever and shooting more pics like this:
